The Men in Blue are all set to take the field against their arch-rivals Pakistan in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is to be noted that while India is coming after a comprehensive win over Australia and Afghanistan, Pakistan are also coming high into this game after beating Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

But ahead of the much important India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup clash, the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam addressed the media in a pre-match press conference. On being asked by one of the media personnel on his captaincy stint, the Men in Green skipper had a firm and confident reply. Babar Azam said, “I have not captaincy because of India vs Pakistan game, and it will not go from me even if we lose tomorrow.”
It is to be noted that Babar Azam’s remarks come after India’s record over Pakistan stays 7-0 with the 2023 Cricket World Cup hosts having an upper hand. The 28-year-old Pakistan batter also during the pre-match presser opened up on how he has got more calls for the tickets of the match over constant reminders of the head-to-head record.
The last time both these cricketing nations locked horns was at the 50-over Asia Cup 2023. While during the Group fixture, India won the toss and opted to bat first, but consistent rain played a spoilsport as the match was abandoned with a No Result. Whereas the two sides once against locked horns in the Super Fours stage with India beating Pakistan by 228 runs, courtesy, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul’s respective centuries.
