The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has rejected the security concerns of the All India Tennis Association (AITA), directing them to send the Indian tennis team to Pakistan for the Davis Cup World Group I Play-offs tie. As per a report, the ITF Davis Cup Committee has made the ruling in favour of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) to host the tie against India in the first week of February in Islamabad.
The Davis Cup Committee, comprising 15 members, accepted the presentation of PTF against AITA, who had refused to send its team to Pakistan for the tie. AITA had earlier stated to the Davis Cup Committee that it would not be possible for the Indian tennis team to play the tie in three months time in Pakistan while pointing out that it should be organised at a neutral venue instead.

A source closely associated with the Davis Cup Committee told The News, a Pakistani newspaper organisation, “The ITF Davis Cup Committee has rejected Indian security concerns and directed the Indian Federation to send its team for an important tie, failing which the tie will be awarded to Pakistan.”
The opinion of the Davis Cup Committee about the matter was also revealed, “There is no such situation in Pakistan where an Indian team cannot travel and participate in the Davis Cup tie. Pakistan has hosted some important Davis Cup ties just recently in a successful manner so there is no solid reason as to why they cannot host the tie against India. Maintaining law and order is a sole responsibility of the host nation. Indian team should rest assured that required security measures will be in order for their travel and participation.”
