Ahead of Mumbai Indian’s (MI) IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the Hardik Pandya-led franchise has received a massive boost as they will soon be blostered with powerpack bowling lineup. The side, who are missing the services of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah as he nurses an injury at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence, reports have finally revealed his return date.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Bumrah will miss Mumbai’s next two games, where they are set to play against LSG on April 4 and RCB on April 7. However, the Ahmedabad-born pacer is expected to join the side by mid-April as he is currently close to taking the final round of fitness tests at the CoE.

The 31-year-old star pacer, who has been out of action since early January 2025 after feeling some discomfort in his back during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, is all set to return this month. According to reports citing ESPNcricinfo, Bumrah has been building his bowling workload in recent weeks and is understood to be close to taking the final rounds of fitness tests in Bengaluru.

Furthermore, it is stated that only after he gets clearance from the BCCI medical team, Bumrah will join the Mumbai side for the IPL. Earlier, sources to close to the development informed, as quoted by The Thimes of India, “Bumrah's injury is a bit more serious. The medical team wants to ensure he doesn't suffer a stress fracture. Bumrah himself is being careful. He is bowling at the CoE but it could take longer to get back in full swing. No definite timeline has been set yet, but one hopes he gets back by mid-April.”

Speaking of the franchise, MI is currently placed sixth in the IPL 2025 points table. However, the side didn’t have a great start to the season as they registered back-to-back losses, but finally got better of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), registering an eight-wicket win over them at the Wankhede Stadium.
