Pakistan finally won a home Test series after four years as the hosts defeated England by nine wickets in the third Test in Rawalpindi to clinch the series by 2-1. After the series win, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood wasn’t happy with the journalist when asked about his form. The right-hander gave a befitting reply and mentioned that the team prioritize on winning the match rather than any individual performance. Masood also slammed the journalist for pointing out the negative things despite a series win.
Shan Masood scored 151(177) in the first innings of the first Test in Multan. Apart from that, the Pakistan skipper hasn’t played any memorable knock in the series and ended up scoring 225 runs from three matches. He also scored a quickfire 23*(6) as Pakistan chased 37 runs in the third Test. “Jeeti hai team aur aap aur usme bhi negative dekh rahe hain (The team has won, yet you’re still seeing negatives, you haven’t found anything positive),” Shan Masood was quoted as saying by Times of India.
This is a team game…: Shan Masood
During the press conference, Shan Masood also mentioned that the Pakistan team's focus was on winning the game as a unit and disn’t prioritize personal milestone. The Pakistani skipper was quoted as saying, “You jumped straight to that question. This is a team game, not an individual one.”
Pakistan made a great comeback in the Test series after losing the first game by an innings and 47 runs. The hosts made some bold decisions after losing the first game and dropped their key players including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Nassem Shah. After that, Pakistan went on to win the next two matches and finally won a Test series at home after February 2021.
