Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav has been named the captain of the side with Ruturaj Gaikwad being the vice-captain for the first three games before Shreyas Iyer returns as the deputy for the final two matches.

But the biggest exclusions from the squad were wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Both players have often shown a lot of promise in the past but over the last year, haven't been given opportunities to play at the international level.
Hence as the squad was announced, fans were quick to social media and question these selections. Several supporters demanded justice for Samson and Chahal, while others called this decision to be a massive mistake.
