The Kansas City Police shared an update about the investigation after a two-day-old threatening tweet went viral following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade mass shooting. Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers turned into a tragedy as a mass shooting erupted at the victory rally on Thursday, February 15 (IST). The gunfire left at least one person dead and more than 22 people injured, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred at the end of the parade, which was likely to be attended by more than a million fans, leading to chaos among the fans. While the list of wounded people included at least eight children, the victim who lost her life was identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a local DJ. Hours The Kansas City police had detained three people within a few hours of the gunfire, owing to the courage shown by a few KC Chiefs fans, which included a father-daughter duo as well. 

Two-day-old mass gunfire tweet goes viral, police shares updates

A two-day-old tweet went viral soon after the tragedy took place during the victory rally. In the post, the perpetrator had tweeted, "I might be planning a terrorist attack on the Kansas City Chiefs parade." On Thursday, the Kansas City Police shared updates about the shooting and said that they are carrying out the investigation. Responding to a journalist, the police department said,  "We are aware of this tweet and our investigators are working with our federal partners to look into this."

Following the incident, Super Bowl LVIII winners released a statement and said, “We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station after today's parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City. The statement further read, “At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff, and their families are safe and accounted for. We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”
