Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema seemed to have deleted his Instagram account after his side’s latest defeat to Al-Nassr 5-2. Benzema had no presence on social media platforms after he lost to Cristiano Ronaldo’s team in the Saudi Pro League which saw Cristiano Ronaldo’s twin penalties and further goals from Sadio Mane and Anderson Talisca. In the game, Benzema provided an assist, but his performance has got him on the radar of several fans and experts. 

After his side’s loss, he found himself in front of abuse from fans on social media platforms and also got pressure from the Saudi Arabian media. It compelled the footballer to delete his Instagram account, where he had a following of more than 76 million. Talking of the team’s performance, Al-Ittihad has seen a dip in the performance, as the side has won only one game and moved to the sixth spot in the standings. 

As per reports by talkSPORT (via GOAL), the footballer might have the action under extreme external pressure. After the match, his account wasn’t accessible, leading to speculations that it might be deleted or suspended. The 36-year-old had an impressive tenure with Real Madrid, and hence, his transition to Al-Ittihad was marked by higher expectations.

Benzema to leave Saudi Pro League: Reports

As per the reports, the 36-year-old is set to leave the Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in 2024. Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia in June after completing a free transfer move. However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, Benzema found it difficult to remain consistent in Jeddah. The 36-year-old started off his tenure in the Middle East on a powerful note but the Frenchman then failed to meet the goals. As per reports by the Saudi media Al-Riyadiya, Benzema has ‘disappeared’ from Jeddah following Al Ittihad’s 5-2 defeat to Al Nassr on December 26.
