Two-time Olympic gold-medalist Kevin Durant will lead the 12-member USA basketball contingent at the forthcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo beginning from July 23. The roster released by the US team witnesses the return of Olympic veteran Durant along the likes of Green and Love. While Durant and Green were members of the 2016 Olympic gold-medal winning team, Durant and Love were part of the winning team in 2012 apart from winning 9-0 and clinching the FIBA World Cup title.
With his selection in the squad, Durant also became the fourth player from the United States to be part of three or more Olympic teams. The other three are Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and David Robinson.
Furthermore, the average age of the 12 players in the US side at the conclusion of the Olympic games would be 28.2 which is the third oldest US Men’s team in history following the 1996 Atlanta Olympic squad with a mean age of 29.4 and 1992 Barcelona Olympics team where the average age was 29.
