The Kolkata Knight Riders registered a comfortable seven-wicket win over the Delhi Capitals to end their poor run of form at home. With this victory, KKR has consolidated itself in second place with a handsome net run rate of 1.096. Whereas the Delhi Capitals went down to sixth spot as they have five wins from 11 games with six losses.
Talking about the game, Delhi Capitals won the toss and had a streaky start with the bat. After a few blistering boundaries, the Capitals hit a collapse as they lost three quick wickets before being reduced to 93-5 in the 11th over. The second half of the DC innings was marred with wickets barring the end where Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with a score of 35 to help post a total of 153. For KKR, Varun Chakaravarthy starred with the ball as he picked up 3-16 in four overs.
Then in the second innings, Kolkata got off to a swashbuckling start with Phil Salt's 33-ball 68 while the other KKR batters like Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh got cheaply. Finishing off things, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer combined score 59 and helped Kolkata register a seven-wicket win.
Talking about his performance, Salt said, "Good to be contributing. Have had a good run in the home games. Nice that we've had continuity in conditions. Coming from the last game, to put in a performance like that from the bowlers, really pleased for them. It is high risk at times, but it's about putting the odds in your favour."
"Have to keep backing yourself and make those right options. It does. Very helpful keeping first and see what it's doing. Gives an advantage in assessing conditions first. Sunil keeps things simple but he's a deep thinker about the game. We've dovetailed nicely in this competition. If one of us gets going, we feed the strike to them."
