With the 18 th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) underway, Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals (DC) have been handed a massive boost ahead of their next fixture, where they will play against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dr Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on March 30.
In a notable move, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has joined the DC side after he missed the opening match, where they faced Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). KL Rahul missed the match as he had taken a paternity break. He welcomed a baby girl on Monday, March 24 with wife Athiya Shetty.
KL Rahul to play DC’s second match vs SRH in IPL 2025
The star Indian wicketkeeper-batter was roped in by the Delhi-based franchise for INR 14 Crore in the mega auction in November last year. However, the 32-year-old has joined the camp in Vizag, a report in Times of India claimed that he will play DC’s next game. The report also added that despite being on a break, Rahul was training in Mumbai under Abhishek Nayar, who serves as India’s assistant coach.
Speaking of DC’s opening game, the Axar Patel-led side registered a close one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), courtesy Ashutosh Sharma 31-ball 66*. Apart from him, youngster Viprag Nigam also played a cameo of 15-ball 39 in the side’s victory where they chase the 210-run target in 19.3 overs.
