However, the 37-year-old had a comparatively poor outing in the continental tournament, an injury in the summit clash after collision with Colombian footballer Santiago Arias, forced him to be subbed out, leaving him in tears.
Days after Argentina’s Copa America 2024 win, Messi’s Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Inter Miami has provided an injury update. “After a medical evaluation, it has been determined that Leo Messi has suffered a ligament injury in his right ankle. The captain’s availability will be determined by periodic assessments and the progress of his recovery,” Inter Miami’s statement read.

Coach Tata Martino also shared an update on Lionel Messi’s injury and confirmed that tests will be done to determine the severity. “He twisted his ankle, and the injury is present so tests are needed and wait for results.
