While Virat Kohli is reckoned as the greatest of the game of cricket, Novak Djokovic, the World No. 1 ranked tennis star is definitely the greatest of all times in the sport. Off late, the two have been quite open about their camaraderie and Virat Kohli in his recent interaction spoke about the same.

Speaking of his admiration for Djokovic, Kohli revealed how they both started interacting. In the video shared by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) where Virat spoke on an intriguing tale involving Novak, the Serb has now responded, extending an invitation to Kohli that they play together some day. In the post on X, Novak wrote, “Thank you for these kind words @imVkohli Looking forward to the day we play together.”
While Kohli is featuring in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, the Serbian is competing at the first Grand Slam of the year - the Australian Open 2024. Ahead of his AO2024 campaign, the 24-time Grand Slam champion received wished for the star cricket. In the video Kohli revealed how he decided to send a message to Djokovic on Instagram. But to his surprise, the tennis maestro had already messaged him and the Kohli thought how it could be a prank.
“I got in touch with Novak very organically. I was just looking at his profile once on Instagram and I just happened to press the message button. I thought I’ll just say hello, maybe,” Kohli revealed on BCCI’s video on X. “And then I saw a message from him on my DM already. I never opened it myself. So first time I saw my own messages myself, I saw, he messaged me himself. And I was like, let me just check if it’s a fake account or something like that.”
“But them I checked it again and it was legitimate. And then, yeah, we got talking. We keep exchanging messages every now and then. I congratulated him for all his amazing achievements,” Kohli further added.
