Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants announced West Indies international Nicholas Pooran as their new vice-captain ahead of the 2024 season. Over their short two-year history, the Super Giants have grown into one of the top teams in the tournament with consecutive playoff appearances. In the previous season, LSG finished third in the league but lost against the Mumbai Indians in the eliminator.
Pooran played a vital role in Lucknow's success in 2023 as the Trinidadian smashed 358 runs, with two fifties, at an impressive strike rate of 172.94. These numbers, combined with his stellar form in T20 leagues around the world, pushed the franchise to name Pooran as the vice-captain. The announcement was made at an event in Lucknow on Wednesday where LSG captain Rahul handed Pooran the vice-captain's jersey with the number 29.
