Manchester United forward Antony has been accused of domestic abuse by a former partner. The Brazilian international’s ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin has reported him to the police for ‘domestic violence, threat and bodily injury’ as per reports. The case was registered at the 5th Police Station for the Defense of Women - East, in Tatuapé.

Reports state that Gabriela Cavallin claims to have been assaulted by Antony on May 20 2023. That was match day for Manchester United in the Premier League where they took on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Brazilian publication Globo Esporte reported that Cavallin had a relationship with Antony in 2022. The report also includes “photos of abrasions and threatening messages”, where Cavallin has discussed previous aggressive behaviour from the Brazil international.

Gabriela Cavallin is now pushing authorities in Brazil to take “an urgent protective measure” while further evidence in the case is gathered. Globo Esporte further states that Antony had a relationship with Cavallin during 2022, who revealed on social media in June 2022 that she had a miscarriage when the pair were expecting their first child. No comment has been made by Antony, his representatives or Manchester United.

Talking about the Brazil international, Antony joined Manchester United from Ajax last summer for £85 million and had a decent 2022-23 season. The Brazilian had eight goals and three assists over 44 appearances for the Red Devils and managed to win the League Cup with the club. But Antony was missing from Manchester United’s previous two fixtures against Fulham and Manchester City after suffering a leg injury in the game against Chelsea.
