Former chief selector of the Indian men's cricket MSK Prasad believes Lucknow Super Giants' fast bowling sensation Mayank Yadav deserves a spot in the squad for the T20 World Cup later this year. Yadav has taken the world by storm since his debut in the IPL against Punjab Kings where he picked up three wickets while bowling at a blistering pace.

Continuing this form, Yadav registered another three-wicket haul against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, he dismissed the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green and earned his second consecutive Player of the Match award.

These performances pushed several fans and experts to pick Mayank Yadav for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. Hence, former BCCI selector MSK Prasad expressed that Yadav should be picked for the World Cup. The former India international spoke about the Delhi youngster's ability to bowl under pressure and the void in the Indian pace bowling attack with the absence of Mohammed Shami.

The selectors must be looking for a third seamer: MSK Prasad

In an interview with RevsSportz, Prasad said, "Mayank is someone who has shown he can absorb pressure and bowl consistently at a good line. He has already troubled the best of the lot with his pace. If they are not being able to bring the bat down against the pace, he has been generating I think he will be handy. And looking at the Indian bowling, especially with Shami now being ruled out, the selectors must be looking for a third seamer after Bumrah and Siraj. Someone with that kind of a pace and accuracy deserves a place in the T20 World Cup squad."

They struggled to negotiate his pace:  Prasad on Yadav's spell against RCB

Prasad also praised the 21-year-old for consistently bowling at a great pace while being accurate. He said, " It’s not just about bowling consistently at a good pace but the accuracy. You saw the game against Punjab Kings, it was his pace coupled with line and length that troubled batters. They struggled to negotiate his pace. In the game against RCB, the ball with which he got Cameron Green bowled speaks volumes about his pace. I think he is easily the find of IPL so far."
