England cricket’s busy summer season all set to start from May onwards which consists of international as well as domestic matches. The international matches will start with T20I series against Pakistan followed by a three-match Test series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Apart from that, for domestic cups, the 11th edition of the Metro Bank One Day Cup is also slated to begin on July 24.
It is one of the most prestigious white-ball domestic tournaments which was started in order to revamp 50-over cricket in England. The current edition will be played between 18 teams which are equally separated into two groups of nine teams.
The championship runs concurrently with the international fixtures of the England men’s cricket team but many reputed stars, from local to overseas will be part of the tournament. The tournament will be played in two rounds, the league stage which will be played from July 24 to August 14, while the knockout stage will be played on August 16, 18, and on September 22.
The 18 teams are divided into two groups as follows:
Group A: Derbyshire, Durham, Hampshire, Kent Spitfires, Lancashire, Middlesex, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Somerset, Worcestershire Rapids
Group B: Essex, Glamorgan, Surrey, Nottinghamshire Outlaws, Sussex Sharks, Leicestershire Foxes, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Yorkshire Vikings
