Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that winger Bukayo Saka will be out of action for “many weeks” after suffering a hamstring injury during their 5-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League. After the conclusion of the match at the Selhurst Park in London, Bukayo Saka left the stadium on crutches, which led to the speculations running rampant about him not going to be available for a considerable time, which turned out to be true.
In the ongoing 2024-25 season, Bukayo Saka has been in exceptional form, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists in 24 matches across all competitions this season. He is expected to be a major miss for Arsenal during the ongoing festive period, and the club would be looking to ensure that they don’t fall in a slump without him, which was the case during Martin Odegaard’s absence.
Bukayo Saka is going to be out for many weeks. It is what it is: Mikel Arteta
While addressing a press conference ahead of their next Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium against Ipswich Town on December 27, Mikel Arteta talked about Bukayo Saka’s latest injury. He was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “It's not looking good. He's going to be out for many weeks. It is what it is. He's injured, we cannot change it. We're going to use this time now to help him.”
When one of the journalists asked Mikel Arteta about whether Bukayo Saka tore something in his hamstring, he replied, “Yes. Probably, there are ways to prevent the injury. There are a lot of factors. We are looking at everything and what we can do differently.” The Arsenal manager also revealed that the Englishman is “gutted” and “really emotional” after his injury was deemed to be quite severe.
Mikel Arteta also stated that the injuries to big players in recent times is not only because of a congested list of fixtures, but also other factors are involved in it.
