The Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving no stone unturned to get the venues ready for the upcoming ICC tournament, the Champions Trophy. The PCB Chairman while speaking to the media on Sunday, October 6 spoke of the tournament, highlighting the participation of all teams. The eight-team tournament is set to be played in February-March in Pakistan in 2025.

Moreover, as per the tentative schedule proposed by the PCB, the tournament, which will be played in the 50-over format, will be held across three venues, namely, Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. India is scheduled to play all its matches in Lahore, while the final is set to be played on March 9.

Mujhe puri umeed hai: Mohsin Naqvi confident of India’s participation in Champions Trophy 2025

Speaking to local media in Lahore ahead of Pakistan versus England first Test, the PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi expressed his thoughts on the upcoming Champions Trophy. He also expressed his confidence on India’s participation in the tournament as he said, “Indian team mujhe puri umeed hai…. Abhi tak koi aisi cheez nahi jiski wajeh se vo postpone karey ya cancel karey. Toh sari teams aayengi (Team India will come to play Champions Trophy. All teams will come).”

It is to be noted that India hasn’t travelled to Pakistan since July 2008 due the tense political relations between the two countries, whereas Pakistan last came to India to feature in the ODI World Cup. Moreover, the two nations haven’t played any bilateral series since 2012-13.

Speaking of the Champions Trophy, which is marking its return after 2017, will be held in Pakistan in 2025. It will be the first time that Pakistan will host an ICC event since the 1996 ODI World Cup. However, a clarity from the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still awaited on India’s participation in the tournament.
