The life-size statue of Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai will be unveiled on November 1. The statue will be placed near the Sachin Tendulkar Stand at the stadium, where India won their second ODI World Cup title in 2011. According to a few early reports, the inauguration of the statue will be a high-profile event, with a prominent minister doing the honours just before the World Cup matches.
The statue will be inaugurated a day before India's ODI World Cup 2023 fixture against Sri Lanka on November 2, Thursday. The event is expected to be graced by several other dignitaries as well as the members of the Indian team. The Mumbai Cricket Association Stadium president, Amol Kale, said “We are finalising the schedule and the timing."
In the press meeting, the MCA Head said, "Tendulkar's statue will be erected on November 1. The inauguration of Tendulkar's statue will be attended by team India."
Kale added, "Of course, Tendulkar will himself be present on the special occasion. We will reveal more details in a format invite soon." Earlier in February, the MCA Chief announced that the association was planning to install a life-size statue of the former Indian great. It comes as a tribute to the legend, who turned 50 in April 2023.
