Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka on Wednesday (January 11) announced that she is expecting her first child. The Japanese tennis star in the update revealing this news also addressed that she would take a break and will return to court in 2024.

The player took to social media to share this update from her life. The 25-year-old also shared a note with the scans calling it a life update for 2023. “The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that it’s the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun. These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to.”

The 25-year-old withdrew from the first Grand Slam of the year on Sunday (January 8). The tournament also confirmed her withdrawal with a post which stated, “Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the Australian Open. Will miss her at #AO2023.” Dayana Yastremska was then moved to the main draw following Osaka’s withdrawal.
She last took the court during the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo in September 2022. However, she withdrew from the event prior to her second-round match with complains of abdominal pain.
