Renowned gaming company NetEase is reportedly developing a new project delivering into the realm of superhero-themed games. The esports game is speculated to be a 6v6 Overwatch-style third-person hero-shooter, which is set in the Marvel universe. The Streamr first reported the development but was later confirmed by Forbes’ Paul Tassi, a renowned gaming journalist. 

He confirmed his confidence in the authenticity of the rumours and said, “I am convinced the game is likely real.” The reports suggested that the potential title of the game could be ‘Marvel Rivals’, but clarity on the same is also needed. The gaming company has previously come up with superhero gaming titles including Marvel Super War, a 3D MOBA, and Marvel Duel, a mobile CCG. 

Apart from this, James Arnold Taylor, popular for his portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars is said to lend his voice to the character of Magneto in the upcoming game. The addition of voice-overs aims to add significant depth to the overall gaming experience. Apart from this, the reports suggest that environmental destruction will play a key role in enhancing the gameplay experience. 

While the reports have spread like wildfire among gaming enthusiasts, an official confirmation is still awaited. However, it is expected that fans can hear something at an upcoming event at NetEase Connect 2024.
