After an impressive showing in the ODI World Cup 2023, the Netherlands announced their squad for the T20 World Cup in June. Led by the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards, the Dutch will look to pull off a few more upsets in the USA and the West Indies.
Their World Cup does miss a few experienced names like Rolef van der Merwe and Collin Ackerman but has exciting young talents, especially in their spin department. This is the Dutch national side’s third consecutive ICC tournament, having qualified for the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Ahead of the showpiece event, the Oranje will play a tri-series at home alongside Ireland and Scotland between May 18 and 24. Then to kick off their World Cup campaign, the Netherlands will take on Nepal on June 4 in Group D.
Netherlands' probable playing XI for T20 World Cup 2024
Openers: Max O’Dowd, Michael Levitt
Kicking things off for the Netherlands, Max O’Dowd and Michael Levitt would be the Dutch openers for this World Cup. The pair have batted together over the recent Nepal Triangular Series 2024 and scored runs at an incredible rate. O’Dowd generally looks to control the innings while Levitt goes all guns blazing with his blistering strike rate close to 190. Further, the young 20-year-old can also bowl some express pace.
