Brazilian football superstar Neymar, who plays for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, spoke in an interview to the club about the unparalleled growth of the league in the last couple of seasons, crediting Cristiano Ronaldo for it. After the Portuguese icon joined Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League at the turn of 2023, the league has attracted tons of viewers from all over the world, which has helped in improving the standing of the sport by leaps and bounds in Saudi Arabia.
Notably, after suffering a knee injury during international duty for Brazil a year ago, exactly to this day, Neymar has been out of action for club and country. Following a surgery on a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee, the 32-year-old underwent a massive rehabilitation process before restarting training with Al-Hilal on September 29, and it is speculated as per the report from ESPN that he could play in the Asian Champions League match at Al Ain on October 21.
I believe Cristiano Ronaldo started all of this: Neymar on Saudi Pro League
In his latest interview with Al-Hilal, Neymar spoke about the impact of Cristiano Ronaldo on the Saudi Pro League, which made many of the top players from Europe and other countries in the world joining the league. He was quoted as saying, “I believe Cristiano Ronaldo started all of this and everybody called him crazy, and this and that.”
Moreover, the return of Neymar in the Al-Hilal playing XI will be decided by their coach Jorge Jesus, but at the same time, he will be needing the approval from Brazilian team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar first and foremost as he performed the surgery on his left knee. It is understood that Rodrigo Lasmar will make his way to Saudi Arabia to check the fitness of Neymar, and furthermore, Brazilian Football Confederation is monitoring the situation with a hope of having him play in CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers next month.
