P aris Saint-Germain and Neymar Jr, who last played for the French club on February 20, are reportedly looking to part ways by the end of the current season. Although the Brazilian still has a few years remaining on the contract, he is open to leave the Ligue 1 club by the end of this season a week after PSG fans mobbed his house and demanded his exit.
Last week, more than 50 PSG supporters showed up at Neymar's home and demanded his exit from the team. A video went viral on social media where the French club's fans can be seen protesting at Neymar's residence in Paris, and chanting, "Get Out."
According to ESPN, Neymar had second thoughts about staying in Paris and now feels unwelcome. He also believes it would be preferable to play elsewhere next season. Neymar is currently recovering from an ankle injury and is expected to be out of action till June, which means that the Brazilian superstar could have already played his last match for PSG.
The Premier League is home to the few teams that could afford to pay Neymar's contract of €40 million per year and cover what would probably be a significant transfer fee, as per the reports. Several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, have previously expressed interest in signing him, and he is open to a transfer this summer.
Neymar was released by FC Barcelona on August 3, 2017, after his legal representatives made a payment of €222 million, which was his release clause amount, to the club which further constituted the most expensive transfer ever. Neymar signed a deal with PSG that would keep him there through 2022, and Javier Pastore presented him with the number 10 jersey as a "welcome gift". On 8 May 2021, he extended his contract with PSG until 2025. The Brazilian has won three league titles with PSG till now and was also a part of the Coupe de France winning side in 2020.
