Australian Tennis star Nick Kyrgios has been reprimanded with a $1 4,000 fine after smashing down two rackets post his US Open quarterfinal loss. After suffering a devastating five-set defeat against Karen Khachanov, Kyrgios angrily broke down two racquets.

As a result, he has to pay the biggest fine at the US Open so far. In total, Kyrgios was fined $32,500 and was penalised five times. Earlier in the tournament, the Australian was fined $7,500 for spitting and swearing. The money will be automatically deducted from the $473,200 Krygios will take home.

The World number 25 earned $445,000 for singles and $28,200 for doubles - at the year's final Grand Slam. Kyrgios defeated world number one Daniil Medvedev in the Round of 16 at Flushing Meadows but suffered a 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 loss to Russian 27th seed Khachanov.

While addressing his loss, Kyrgio talked about how he isn’t feeling great about playing and commented on the importance given to Grand Slams throughout the year. "Yeah. I mean, yeah, they do. I honestly feel like shit. I feel like I've let so many people down. I just don't know. I feel like I'm playing Tokyo and stuff. But, like, I feel like these four tournaments are the only ones that ever are going to matter. It's just like you got to start it all again. I have to wait till the Australian Open," Nick Kyrgios said.

He further expressed that no other event "really matters" and that they're a "waste of time" because the fans and the general public only remember players based on their performance at the Majors. "Honestly I don't even really care about any other tournament. Like, I feel like at the Grand Slams, now having success at a Grand Slam, it's just like no other tournament really matters," the World No. 25 said.
