The 50-over Cricket World Cup is underway in the Indian subcontinent and prior to the India vs Australia  fixture, the tournament has rather seen some one-sided affairs. While the tournament opener saw 2019 World Cup runners-up New Zealand thrash England, handing then a nine-wicket loss in the absence of some of their key players, the Kiwis are all set to take on Netherlands next.

The stand-in skipper Tom Latham & Co., who is leading the side in the absence of Kane Williamson, will take on Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. But ahead of this fixture, it was Glenn Phillips who got a chance to interact with the press in the pre-match press conference.

However, this press conference turned out to be an interesting one as the Kiwi international was seen addressing the media with a mobile flashlight after a power cut in Hyderabad. However, the presser continued without much delay with the wicketkeeper-batter’s mindful move, pictures of which are now doing rounds on social media.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) even took to X to share the pictures for this presser, captioning their post, “We didn’t mean to tourn the lights out, but maybe we’ll do it more often.”

Talking about the New Zealand side, the Kiwis are sitting at the top of the CWC 2023 points table, having won their opening game by a margin of nine wickets, with two points and a positive run-rate of 2.149.
