India's ace off-spinner,  Ravichandran Ashwin, has been one of the crucial players in Indian Test team in the last few years and has played a monumental role in the domination of Team India in home Tests. Ashwin is currently the number one bowler in Test cricket , according to the ICC rankings. He is known for his big cricketing brain and utilising different variations in his spin bowling to outfox the batters. 

Ravichandran Ashwin is celebrating his 38th birthday on September 17, 2024. He was last seen playing for the Indian team during a five-match Test series against England at the start of the year. The right-arm spinner finished as the leading wicket-taker in the series with 26 scalps from five matches. He is set to make his return for India in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting from September 19.

Fastest to 300 wickets in Tests: Ravichandran Ashwin is the fastest cricketer to reach the milestone of 300 wickets in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in his 54th Test match against Sri Lanka in Nagpur on November 24, 2017.

Second most Player of the Series awards in Test: Ravichandran Ashwin has made India win so many Test series with his remarkable performances not just with the ball, but also with bat. He has won 10 Player of the Series awards in his Test career, which is the second best in the format. 

Second fastest to take 500 Test wickets: Ravichandran Ashwin is the second fastest bowler to take 500 wickets in Test cricket. He achieved this milestone in his 98th Test match against England in Rajkot on February 15, 2024. 

Second Indian to take 500 Test wickets: Ravichandran Ashwin is only the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to cross the milestone of 500 Test wickets. He has taken 516 wickets in his Test career so far, while Kumble finished his career with 619 wickets from 132 matches.
