The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) announced a 12-member squad for the India men’s kabaddi team, which will travel to Hangzhou, China, to play in the Asian Games 2023 next month. The most shocking omission from the team was Pardeep Narwal, who is known as one of the best raiders in the history of Indian and world kabaddi.

Notably, as part of the selection process for the Asiad, starting from September 23, the Kabaddi Federation organised a preparatory camp with 24 players, led by Pawan Kumar Sehrawat. It took place in Bengaluru from July 6 to 27, earlier this year, under the coaching of Ashan Kumar.

In the Asian Games 2023, the India men’s kabaddi team will have some of the most elite players, young and experienced players competing. After winning the kabaddi competition seven times in a row in the Asiad, Team India suffered a heartbreaking semi-final loss against Iran in Jakarta-Palembang during the Asian Games 2018, which they will be looking to avenge later this year.

Also, AKFI announced the 12-member squad for the India women’s kabaddi team for the Asian Games 2023. They have also won the competition two out of three times, losing the 2018 final against Iran in Jakarta-Palembarg.
