The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was once again under scrutiny in regard to Haris Rauf’s contract termination . It is to be noted that the Pakistan pacer’s central contracted was terminated in mid-February, just days ahead of the PSL 2024. This decision was taken after Rauf had withdrawn from the three-match Test series against Australia but was later seen plying his trade from Melbourne Stars in BBL 2023-24.
Although the cricketer took the matter ahead and appealed against the stance taken by the PCB. However, latest reports reveal that the PCB legal team is reviewing his appeal, and his contract might get reinstated. A PCB official also spoke around the same. “There are chances that the appeal might be accepted, and his contract restored,” the PCB official said a quoted by the Times of India.
In addition to his central contract, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also decided to hold off on issuing No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Haris to participate in overseas leagues until June 2024.
Lahore Qalandars owner blasts at PCB over Haris Rauf’s contract
After PCB terminated Haris Rauf ’s contract, Lahore Qalandars owner, Sameen Rana lashed out at the cricket board for such a gesture. Rana in an interview with Cricinfo said, “Rauf’s our premier bowler, our highest wicket-taker after Shaheen Afridi. To publicly humiliate him and issue a press release announcing his termination of his central contract, I have never seen this happen anywhere.”
“I would never treat my employees like that. The employee at least has the right for you to call, email or message them. None of that happened with Rauf, and it was pathetic. It was really poor management,” he further added.
Haris Rauf is currently ruled out of PSL 2024 after he suffered a dislocated shoulder. The 30-year-old sustained the injury while fielding for Lahore Qalandars in match against Karachi Kings.
