In the 16th game of WPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium, UP Warriorz (UPW) were invited to bat first by Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who emerged victorious at the toss. The home side got an exceptional start from their Australian openers Georgia Voll and Grace Harris, who stitched 74 runs together for the opening wicket in just eight overs. In the magnificent partnership, Voll made a 41-run contribution off just 23 deliveries with nine fours. Harris’ innings concluded on the last delivery of the eighth over when she fell against Hayley Matthews after scoring 28 off 25.

Voll continued to showcase her formidable side and hit three more boundaries before walking back to the dugout in the 11th over of the contest. The right-handed batter hit 55 runs off 33 balls with 12 fours. Nat Sciver-Brunt cleaned up the Aussie and delivered the key breakthrough to her team. Voll’s presence handed UPW the command over the game. Following her departure, MI looked confident and contained Deepti Sharma’s side to a score of 150/9 in their 20 overs. Amelia Kerr bagged 5/38 figures in her four-over spell and helped her team recover from the poor start.

UPW will have to win this game to keep their playoffs hopes alive

UPW are currently in the fifth spot on the points table with two wins and four losses. They have to win their remaining two matches to advance to the playoffs. The Deepti Sharma-led pack might also have to rely on other sides’ failures to see themselves in the next stage of the competition.

On the other hand, MI will strive to win all their three contests and qualify for the playoffs in a convincing manner. The first WPL champions are placed in the third position on the points tally with three victories and two defeats.
