After losing five of their last six matches, Leicester City have sacked their manager Brendan Rodgers, who has been in charge of the Foxes since the 2018-19 season. The Foxes started the season miserably and they were in the relegation zone of the Premier League standings before the international break began.
The talks regarding the sacking of Brendan Rodgers began after Leicester City suffered a painful 6-2 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur. The Foxes are currently stranded on the 19th place in the league table with 25 points in 28 matches, and a relegation seems inevitable.
The club confirmed that assistant manager Chris Davies and first team fitness coach Glen Driscoll will also be leaving along side Rodgers. Immediate responsibility for the first team training and match preparation will be led by the club’s long-serving first team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell.
Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said, "The achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves – we’ve experienced some of our finest footballing moments under his guidance and will always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us to reach on the pitch.
"Off the pitch, Brendan embraced the culture of the Club and helped cultivate an outstanding developmental environment, particularly during the transition to Seagrave, and provided strong leadership during the unprecedented challenge of the coronavirus pandemic. His place in Leicester City history is assured."
The 50-year-old Rodgers left the 2015-16 Premier League winners by mutual consent on Sunday, April 2 following a 2–1 defeat against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park Stadium.
