Prithvi Shaw has etched his name in the history books by scoring an unbeaten 244 off just 153 balls in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2023. Playing for Northamptonshire against Somerset on Wednesday, August 9, Shaw became the first Indian and only the third player in the world to hit a double hundred in the tournament. He also broke the record for the highest individual score in England's List A cricket, surpassing Ollie Robinson and Ali Orr, who scored 206 runs in the 2022 edition.

Shaw, who had a disappointing IPL 2023 season and was dropped from India's limited-overs squad, showed his class and talent with a sensational knock that included 28 fours and 11 sixes. He reached his century in 82 balls and then accelerated his scoring rate, taking only 22 balls to go from 100 to 150 and another 25 balls to reach 200.

Shaw's double ton helped Northamptonshire post a mammoth total of 415 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. Shaw, who had scored only 60 runs in his first two matches for Northamptonshire but has marked his return to form with a fantastic double hundred.

After Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex), Ajinkya Rahane (Leicestershire), Arshdeep Singh (Kent), and Navdeep Saini (Worcestershire), Prithvi Shaw became the fifth Indian cricketer to play in the 2022–23 domestic season in the UK when he signed to play for Northamptonshire in the County Championship and the One-Day Cup.

Prithvi Shaw has lost the favor of the selectors since his last selection for India in a T20I series in January 2023. Before traveling to the UK, Shaw did not have a significant Duleep Trophy accomplishment. Nevertheless, he had a fantastic Ranji Trophy season, scoring 595 runs in 6 games, including 379 against Assam.
