India’s Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Raiza Dhillon on Saturday 20th January sealed Paris Olympics 2024 quota for India. The two Indians won silver in the men’s and women’s skeet event at the Asian Shotgun Championships 2024 in Kuwait.
Speaking of Raiza Dhillon, the Indian finished with a silver with 52/60, just behind Jinmei Gao of People’s Republic of China, who shot 56/60 for the gold medal. Moreover, India’s Maheshwari Chauhan won the bronze with 43/50, while Ganemat Sekhon finishing fourth. Sekhon, Chauhan and Dhillon were also part of the women’s skeet team, where they clinched the gold with the combined core of 347.
In the men’s skeet final, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, who settled for a silver at the Asian Games, shoot 56/60 to clinch the silver. While Chinese Taipei’s Lee Meng Yuan won the gold with a score of 57/60, Kuwait’s Mohammad Aldaihani won the bronze with 47/50. In the men’s team event, the trio of Anantjeet (121), Munesk Battula (113) and Gurjoat Khangura (113) secured a bronze with a combined score of 347.
With the addition of these two, India’s list in shooting for the upcoming Paris Olympics now stands at 19. Previously at the Tokyo Olympics, India’s tally was 15 in 2020.
