Rinku Singh, one of the star batters of Kolkata Knight Riders, has donated INR 50 lakhs to get a sports hostel constructed for underprivileged cricketers in his hometown of Aligarh. Belonging to a family with humble beginnings, wherein his father, Khanchandra Singh, used to deliver LPG cylinders, Rinku Singh had to struggle for everything as a budding cricketer and now he doesn’t want young cricketers to go through the same ordeal anymore.

Masooduz-Zafar Amini, the childhood cricket coach of Rinku Singh from Aligarh, talked about his protege’s efforts to uplift budding cricketers to New Indian Express, “He (Rinku Singh) always wanted to build a hostel for young players, who do not have financial resources to pursue their dreams. As he is financially sound now, he has decided to make it a reality.”

Rinku Singh’s coach also detailed when the construction of the sports hostel began and what to expect from it. He said, “The hostel is coming up at the venue. The work started around three months ago with Rinku watching the progress from close quarters before heading to join his team. The hostel will have 14 rooms and each one can accommodate four trainees. A shed and a pavilion are also being constructed. Separate toilets are also being constructed. These trainees can have food at the canteen being run at the place. It will cost around INR 50 lakhs and the whole expenditure is being borne by Rinku.”

Notably, the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League has been a rousing success already for Rinku Singh with the bat. He smashed 5 consecutive sixes on the last 5 deliveries of the match against Yash Dayal of Gujarat Titans to chase down an unlikely total and win the game for Kolkata Knight Riders at Ahmedabad. Rinku Singh has scored 174 runs in 5 matches for KKR at a brilliant strike-rate of 162.62 so far this IPL.
