On the occasion of Diwali 2023, the cricketing fraternity spread smile and wishes on the auspicious festival. While the Indian cricket team, who are currently playing the ODI World Cup 2023 at home celebrated the festival of lights a day prior owing to their match against the Netherlands on Sunday, 12 November, the other cricketers took to social media to extend their greetings.

Among many others, it was former India captain and wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni who hogged the limelight as he was seen celebrating the festival alongside Rishabh Pant. This heartwarming union of the two well-known wicketkeeper-batters from the cricketing world was a sight to behold.
Sakshi Dhoni, wife of MS Dhoni took to social media to share the glimpse of the festivities and the union and camaraderie these two cricketers share. Pictures of the same have been doing rounds on social media.
MS Dhoni, who turned 42 this year in July, has been a mentor and inspiration for the young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Pant and the latter has been vocal about this “guru-chela” bond. Earlier, Pant celebrated Dhoni’s birthday at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and this Diwali celebration is another instance of the bond the two share, not only on the field, but also off it.
Earlier this month, Sourav Ganguly, Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals gave a major update on Rishabh Pant’s chances of playing the IPL. “Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season. He will not practise now. He is here till 11 th November. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he I the captain of the team, considering the upcoming edition.”
