Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, is reportedly not going to travel to Australia with the rest of the squad ahead of the first Test of the highly anticipated five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series. It is understood that Rohit Sharma won’t be travelling with the Indian cricket team due to personal reasons as the players will be leaving for Australia in two batches on Sunday, November 10, and Monday, November 11, respectively.

With Rohit Sharma not making his way to Australia, it is highly likely that he misses the first Test of the BGT series at the Optus Stadium in Perth, which will begin on November 22. There is a report about the Indian captain potentially missing the first two Test matches down under as per the RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan, who took to his official X account to give the latest update, which would mean that Jasprit Bumrah is going to captain the team.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir slated to address press conference in Mumbai before team's departure to Australia

Although the official status about the Rohit Sharma situation isn’t confirmed by the BCCI, it is confirmed that the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir will be addressing the media in a press conference before leaving for Australia with the second batch of players. He is slated to answer the questions from the journalist at the Ballroom 4 in the ITC Maratha in Mumbai from 9:00 AM onwards, and it is reportedly going to be telecasted on Star Sports network channels.

Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma are under pressure to turn around the fortunes of the Indian Test team in the upcoming five-match BGT Test series against Australia after their home debacle against New Zealand. They lost the three-match series at home for the first-time in history by a 0-3 margin, allowing New Zealand to earn their first Test series win in India as well.
