Indian skipper Rohit Sharma sparked retirement rumours with his unusual gesture following dismissal in the third Test. Sharma’s form slump continued in the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as he nicked off to his Aussie counterpart Pat Cummins in the first half hour of Day 4 of the Gabba Test. After scoring a total of nine runs in the Adelaide Test, Sharma came up with 10 runs off 27 balls at The Gabba. Rohit demoted himself to No. 6 after KL Rahul opened innings for the side in the series.

However, it seems that sixth spot hasn’t been doing too well for the Indian skipper. As the Indian captain continued his dry run of form, one of his gestures sparked retirement rumours. After his dismissal, as a disappointed Rohit made his way back to the pavilion, he threw his gloves in front of the dug out in frustration. It was within moments that the moment went viral on social media, leading to discussion among fans, speculating his retirement from the longest-format. It is to be noted that the Indian batter announced his treatment from T20I after leading the side to the T20 World Cup win in June 2024.
