The Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has sent a message to Romelu Lukaku on social media to call him amidst transfer rumours around the Belgian pro footballer. It has been rumoured that the 30-year-old, who was signed by Chelsea for a whopping sum of £98 million fee in 2021 from Inter Milan in 2021, is expected to leave the club before the start of the next football season.

During his lacklustre second stint at the Stamford Bridge club, Lukaku played only 26 matches in the Premier League during the 2022-23 season, with a disappointing return of eight goals. With that, he was loaned to Inter Milan for the 2022-23 season, where he didn’t perform much better at Seria A, scoring 10 goals in 25 matches.

The new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino comments on Romelu Lukaku's situation

Mauricio Pochettino, the newly appointed manager of the Chelsea football club, talked about the transfer rumours surrounding Romelu Lukaku. He was quoted as saying, “I think the personal situations all the parties know what we think. In that case, he needs to come back on the 12th or 13th (July) to be part of the squad and start pre-season.”

“When the player arrives the first thing they are doing is to come to my office to see me and say hello. That is what I expect if he is still a Chelsea player,” remarked Pochettino.

If Lukaku doesn’t show up to Cobham for the pre-season training at Chelsea, then he might end up playing football next season at either Juventus or one of the clubs in the Saudi Pro League, in all likelihood.
