Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar reacted to his viral deepfake video about an online gaming app. Not only this, but the former India cricketer issued a clarification on the viral video and said that it was fake. In the morphed video, Tendulkar could be seen promoting an online gaming app, saying that his daughter Sara Tendulkar earns lakhs of rupees using the application. However, it can be clearly seen that the video is edited and his voice and face have been morphed.
The 50-year-old cricketer brought everyone’s attention to the video by sharing it on his social media and warned his fans about the misuse of technology. On his X handle, Tendulkar posted the video and wrote, “These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers.”
He added, “Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes.” Notably, this isn’t the first time someone from the former cricketer’s family has fallen victim of the deepfake technology. Earlier, his daughter Sara went through the same thing when a picture of her with brother Arjun Tendulkar was morphed with Shubman Gill’s picture.
The original picture had Sara hugging Arjun but his face was replaced with that of Gill. It is to be noted that with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in regular lives, the generated fake videos have become increasingly common. Several Bollywood celebrities have also suffered the same fate.
