In a big update it has been confirmed that Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will take charge of the Bangla Tigers in the upcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2023. While the Asia Cup is set to take place from 31 August to 17 September in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the ODI World Cup 2023 will be held later this year in India.
The news was confirmed early on Friday, August 11 by BCB Chairman Nazmul Hassan Papon. “We have appointed Shakib as the captain for Asia Cup and World Cup. The World Cup and Asia Cup squad will be announced tomorrow. The selectors will pick a squad of 17 members,” Nazmul informed the reporters on Friday as quoted by Cricbuzz.
It is to be further noted that this development comes after Tamim Iqbal stepped down as the Bangladesh ODI skipper after sustaining a back injury.
