Former India cricketer and star all-rounder of his time, Yuvraj Singh extended birthday wish to youngster Abhishek Sharma on Wednesday, September 4. While Singh was among the first ones to wish Sharma on his 23rd birthday, the World Cup winning all-rounder took a hilarious take in his post on social media as he also shared snippets from his training session.
Although the former India all-rounder posted heartfelt birthday wishes, he also shared a piece of advice for the young opener. Notably, the advice came after repeated attempts to make Abhishek Sharma understand the importance of taking singles, but now took it public.
"Happy birthday sir Abhishek. Hope you take as many singles this year as many as you knock out of the park. Keep putting in the hard work! loads of love and wishes for a great year ahead!" Yuvraj wrote in his message on Wednesday. However, the video looks an old one, Yuvraj can be seen telling the Punjab player to keep the ball down and not try and attempted for lofted shots.

Notably, in the shared video, Abhishek opted to not listen to his mentor and continue to hit the net bowlers out of the park. Singh can even be heard saying, “Single bhi lelo maharaj. Tu na sudhri, bas chakke maari jaayi”.
It is to be noted that Yuvraj Singh has been mentoring several young Punjab cricketers, including Abhishek Sharma. This mentorship began during the COVID-19 outbreak and the latter has spoken about it open in wide. Furthermore, the 2024 year has been a special one for the Indian youngster as he finally made his international debut in a match against Zimbabwe. Sharma, who was part of India’s tour of Zimbabwe, went on to hit his maiden ton in only his second international T20I.
