Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios will be seen in action again in the upcoming Australian Open, which is set to kickstart on January 12, 2025. However, ahead of his much anticipated return, the 29-year-old has already hinted that he could call off the game anytime sooner. Notably, he had to miss the previous edition of Australian Open after sustaining a knee injury.

In his latest podcast with the Nothing Major Podcast, Nick Kyrgios opened up a lot about his career and life. He revealed that it wasn’t easy for him to make a comeback after so many injuries. “Every time I play tennis now, I got to do an hour and a half treatment after like my wrist. I lose feeling in my fingers sometimes. It’s tingling. So I’m definitely on the back end,” Kyrgios was quoted as saying by Essentially Sports.

I couldn’t see myself playing for another year: Nick Kyrgios

In the podcast, Nick Kyrgios also said that he might not play professional tennis after 2025. The Australian revealed the challenges he faced after the surgery and don’t see himself playing for more than a year. "I couldn’t see myself playing for another, max a year and a half, probably. Like with my body, honestly, with my wrist at the moment," Nick Kyrgios said.

After his memorable season in 2022, Nick Kyrgios had several injuries on his wrist and knee and had to undergo three surgeries.  There was also a time when there was doubt for his comeback in professional tennis. "It’s my home tournament. I’ve had some great memories here, obviously last year winning the title in doubles and playing the best tennis of my life, probably. Then going into this event as one of the favourites, it’s brutal," said Kyrgios last year.
