Former Indian cricketer, Sourav Ganguly is set to end his stint as Director of Cricket Operations at Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. The franchise have announced Venugopal Rao as his replacement. Along with this, Hemang Badani has also been appointed as new head coach, replacing Ricky Ponting. Recently, Co–owner of Delhi Capitals, JSW Sports announced Sourav Ganguly as their overall Director of Cricket. This made Ganguly get associated with DC for one more time and the former cricketer can be seen in the IPL 2025 mega auction for the franchise. “The God of the off-side is now our Director of Cricket at JSW Sports. Here’s welcoming the icon, Sourav Ganguly in his new role with our family. We can’t wait for all that lies ahead with him by our side,” JSW announced.

With his new role, Sourav Ganguly will be seen spearheading all the cricketing properties owned by JSW, including Delhi Capitals men and women's team, Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 and Dubai Capitals in International T20 League. As Ganguly is now a part of JSW Group, he can be seen attending IPL 2025 auction for DC despite losing his role as Director of the franchise. 

JSW Sports Founder, Parth Jindal also welcomed Sourav Ganguly as their new Director of Cricket and heaped praise on the former India skipper. "Dada has always had a special place at JSW Sports. For us, he is family first and then the cricketing icon that he is. I’ve said this in the past and it stands true even today – he is one of the sharpest brains in cricket and we will always stand to benefit from his guidance and wisdom of the sport,” Jindal was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
