Sunrisers Hyderabad, the finalist of IPL 2024 are reportedly set to retain Australian opener Travis Head for the upcoming season for a whopping INR 14 Crore. Apart from Head, SRH have also planned to retain Nitish Kumar Reddy for INR 6 Crore. Notably, earlier there were reports of Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins and Abhishek Sharma being their first three capped players pick.
While the franchise is seeing to retain South African player Heinrich Klaasen as their first pick for the upcoming season for a whopping INR 23 Crore, 27.7% above the top slab of INR 18 Crore, they have also planned to retain their captain Pat Cummins from Australia for INR 18 crore, while Indian batter Abhishek Sharma is expected to earn INR 14 Crore as their third retained player.
Reportedly, with the addition of Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy, SRH is set to complete their quota of five capped retained players before the IPL 2025 mega auction, which is set to be held in November. With this, the IPL 2024 finalists will also secure the core group, which played a pivotal role in their campaign in the previous edition.
Franchises to submit list of retained players by October 31
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after announcing the Player Retention rules for 2025-27 cycle, announced Thursday, October 31 as the deadline day for franchises to submit the list of players to be retained for the upcoming edition. As per the player retention rules, IPL teams have the option of retaining a maximum of five capped players and a maximum of two uncapped players, while in total, they are allowed to just retain six players via retention or RTM.
With the purse for each team for the IPL 2025 season increased to INR 120 Crore, the price slabs for player retention for three capped players are INR 18 Crore, INR 14 Crore, and INR 11 Crore respectively.
