India are set to face Australia for a five-match Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. India are yet to lose a Test series against Australia since 2014, and also won their last two Test series down under. However, they are also arrving to the Aussie shores after a crushing 0-3 whitewash in a home Test series against New Zealand. The upcoming Test series will decided India’s chances for the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Lord's in London in 2025.
In order to register their third consecutive Test series win in Australia, India will be hoping to get big runs from their key batters, especially in the middle-order. Two of India’s big names in middle-order will be Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. Both the wicket-keeper batters have played a number of Test matches against Australia. Let’s have a look at their stats in Test matches versus the regining WTC champions.
Records of Indian wicket keepers in Test Matches in Australia
Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant will be one of the Indian players to look out for in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The left-hander loves to bat against Australia in Test matches, and was one of India's top performers in the last two Test series down under. Pant has played seven Test matches in Australia, amassing 624 runs at an average of 62.40 with one hundred and two fifties. In his last Test innings against Australia, Pant scored 89* runs as India sealed an iconic series win in 2020-21.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul announced his arrival in international cricket with a hundred in the second Test of his career against Australia. As a 22-year-old at the time, KL Rahul scored 110(262) in a Test match in Sydney in January 2015. However, apart from that, Rahul hasn't been able to be quite at his best against Australia, but he will be looking to have a memorable BGT this time. In the last decade, KL Rahul has amassed 187 runs from five Test matches in Australia at an average of 20.77 with one hundred.
