Exactly two months from now, India will be facing England on latter's home soil for the five-match Test series between the sides. The upcoming contest between the two teams has not been among the most talked topics in the recent and the reason for that is the World Test Championship final that has shadowed it so far. Before facing England, Virat Kohli and his men would be playing the Test finale against New Zealand, starting June 18.

The WTC final, for obvious reasons, carries a lot of importance. The winning team will be crowned as world champions in the longest format of the game. However, around 40 days after that India are slated to face the Englishmen and the experts and former cricketers have already started making predictions for the series.

Result of WTC final will have little or no impact on Ind-Eng series: Gavaskar

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is of the opinion that India would beat England 4-0 in the series of five games. “The Test series against England starts more than six weeks after the WTC final, so the result of that single game will have little or no impact on the India v England series. India will win the series 4-0 since it’s being played in August-September,” said Gavaskar as quoted by Telegraph.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar pointed out that England might keep some grass on the pitch during the series. He, however, feels it would not worry the visiting side as they have an attack which would use the conditions to its advantage, making things tough for the English batsmen too.

Team India reached UK

The touring Indian team have already reached the UK on Thursday and currently they are under hard quarantine in Southampton. The first round of COVID testing has been done. Slowly and gradually they all will be joining each other for the practice session but that totally depends on the results of the successive COVID tests that are to be conducted.
