The Pokémon Company (TPC), along with Niantic took the iconic game Pokémon GO a notch higher and announced the launch of the game in Hindi. The announcement of Pokémon GO in Hindi comes to honour the sixth popular language in the Asian continent and 15th popular language globally. With it, the company has named several Pokémon in Hindi, ensuring a more captivating user experience.
Launched in 1996 with 151 characters, one of the most popular games across the world, Pokémon now features more than 1000 creatures. Over the years, the game has evolved as one of the most played e-games across various age groups. To make the overall experience more immersive for the Indian fans, Pokémon GO has been localised, and it comes with more than 800 Pokémon with Hindi names.
Notably, the TPC and Niantic came together in 2016 to make the overall experience more realistic, and launched Pokémon GO. During the announcement of Pokémon GO Hindi, Niantic’s VP for Emerging Markets Omar Tellez said, “Niantic remains devoted to fostering a global community that transcends boundaries, and the addition of Hindi language support is a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment towards India and its rapidly increasing gaming audience.”
Tellez added, “The Hindi version of Pokémon GO will promote inclusivity, encourage engagement, and enable more players to embark on their Pokémon GO adventures.” Not only this, but Niantic is also planning to host a month-long special event for Indian players, which would come with features like field and timed research, along with bonuses and other special rewards.
