The Aiden Markram-led side hosted the Men in Blue in the final ODI of the three-match series at the Boland Park in Paarl on Thursday, 21 December. After being invited to put the score first on the board, the KL Rahul-led side posted 296/8 in the 20 overs, courtesy Sanju Samson’s maiden ODI ton and crucial contribution from Tilak Varma with a 77-ball 52.

But a four-wicket haul from Arshdeep Singh, helped the visitors restrict the hosts to 218 runs. However, an instance from the match apart from Samson’s century and Sai Sudharsan’s blinder, a video of skipper KL Rahul and Protean bowler Keshav Maharaj has been doing rounds.

As soon as Maharaj came out to bat in the South Africa inning, the Boland Park in Paarl echoed with the song, “Ram Siya Ram”. However it is a common sight when Maharaj takes the guard, this time, KL Rahul, who was keeping the wickets in the third ODI was heard saying, “Keshav bhai everytime you come, they play this song.”

The Protean bowler also had a quick response to KL’s statement as he nodded his head in affirmation.

The two players will next don their respective Test jersey for the upcoming two-match Test series, starting December 26. While the first of the two-match Test  series is set to be played from December 26 to 30 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, the second will be held from January 3 to 7 at the Newlands in Cape Town.
