It is now being reported that Italian club Juventus is ready for a change in management as manager Thiago Motta is on the verge of being sacked. The 42-year-old Brazilian manager was brought to the Allianz Stadium in the summer of 2024 after two successful managerial seasons at Bologna. Motta was in a managerial role for Bologna for two consecutive seasons where he managed the team for 76 matches, getting 35 wins in the process. In his last season at Bologna, he managed to finish fourth in the Serie A table, earning a Champions League spot for Bologna and this convinced Juventus to appoint Motta as their new manager.
However, his potential sacking stems from a series of disappointing performances across multiple competitions, leading to mounting pressure from both the club's hierarchy and its supporters. Juventus suffered a significant setback in the Champions League, by being eliminated by PSV in the Champions League playoffs. The team's struggles continued domestically, with a notable elimination by Empoli in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Empoli, battling relegation and fielding several reserve players, managed to beat Juventus, highlighting their vulnerabilities.
Documents ready for Igor Tudor to take over until end of the current season with option to extend
In the light of these recent events, Juventus has taken a decision to sack Thiago Motta and the number one candidate for taking up the managerial mantle at Juventus is Igor Tudor, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. It is now believed that the documents are being prepared to bring on Tudor till the end of the current season and with an option to extend till the end of June 2026.
Igor Tudor had a rather successful short last managerial stint at Lazio, where he was in charge of the Italian club for about two months. He managed the club for 11 matches, averaging 1.91 points per game and suffered only two losses in this period.
