Sanju Samson, the Indian wicket-keeping batter, is in the midst of a tough T20I series against the West Indies in the Caribbean. In his recent appearance at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana, the 28-year-old was stumped for just 7 runs, trying to slog Akeal Hosein, which has put further doubts about his place in Team India playing XI.
During the first T20I of the five-match series against the Men in Maroon, Sanju Samson hadn’t fared much better, getting run out for 12 due to a precise direct hit onto the stumps from Kyle Mayers, while trying to pinch a quick single. The lack of consistent scores in the T20I format has been a major issue for the current Rajasthan Royals captain, who has amassed just 320 runs in 18 innings for Team India at a paltry average of 18.82.

Notably, after the second consecutive T20I loss for India against the West Indies, Parthiv Patel, the former Indian wicket-keeper batter, shared his thoughts about Sanju Samson's form for the national team in the shortest format of the game.
He was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz, “Every time India loses, we look at the negative points. Throughout the white-ball series, there has been talk about the need for batters to bat long and it is something that has been missing so far. Every time Samson is not in the squad, we talk about him, but he has not cashed in on the opportunities he has availed of so far. Probably time is running out for him, maybe yes or maybe no.”
Parthiv Patel also opined that Sanju Samson has got a lot of opportunities but he has failed to capitalise on them. He said, “Samson has been getting a lot of opportunities, to be honest, he is just not making the most of the opportunities that he is getting. There was only one batter who looked comfortable and that was Tilak Varma,”

He also went on to praise Tilak Varma for his quality performances in the first two international matches of his career. “The way Tilak rotated the strike, the way he used the reverse sweep against spinners, the way he scored sixes over covers, through this he showed the range he has,” said Parthiv Patel.
